I absolutely LOVED this book. It's honestly one of the best YA novels I've ever read. It has the kind of rapid fire adventure of an action novel, the suspense of a mystery, the non-sappy love story even the most romantically-allergic would squeal over, and just the right touch of humor... all in one! As a traveler myself (not in the internationsl sense...yet ;) I've had a hard time looking for a book about Third World countries that wasn't a historical narrative or super depressing. It wasn't easy, but thankfully I've found it (the title caught my eye. Very appropriate) and have been satistified. That is, until the sequel comes out! This story truely is one-of-a-kind! Keep up the good work ;D

Oh, I completely agree. I was sure this would be the line Colleen would choose to highlight... Don't think I've been right once yet.

"I feel it’s essential for stories to have flawed protagonists — otherwise, how are we going to relate to them?"

Ok, so I know that's not techinically a new sentiment, but it's so true and she says so succintly. (sp?)

AWESOME interview! Yay!

TadMack - Thanks, and you're welcome. Though I should give Autumn all the credit for how the interview turned out. Because who knew my rather basic questions would end up with watching your sister fall into an open sewer in Jakarta? And more?

Angie - I love the cover, too. And I have also been most impressed by the F&F books I've read, which makes this week's WBBT really cool, since we'll also have interviews with Julie Halpern and Lily Archer, and Liz B. will be posting an interview with Ellen Emerson White. Totally looking forward to that.

I love the cover on Carpe Diem. I ran across it on Feiwel and Friends' site while looking up Ellen Emerson White's new book, Long May She Reign. I'm impressed with their catalogue. I thoroughly enjoyed Carpe Diem and look forward to future books, Ms. Cornwell!

Okay - I'd heard about this book, but it just jumped WAY up on top of the TBR list. Made of awesome: missionary kid!!! Who LIKED IT being a missionary kid!!!! New Guinea!!!! Centipedes!! -- oh, wait. No exclamation points on that, except if it means I'm screaming and in flight. I love the concept of L.I.M. and "Extreme You" is a phrase that I may have to steal! Great, great interview! Thanks for the jolt of enthusiasm!
