Long Duk Dong: Love Him or Hate Him? March 30, 2008

Gosh, I can’t believe Gedde shops at Wal-Mart!
LA Times recently did a “Where are they now” on the John Hughes kids, and I was gratified to see that only Gedde Watanabe (and, arguably, Molly Ringwald) came out of all that doing just great.
You know I still cringe when I see Breakfast at Tiffanys, because of Mickey Rooney’s awful depiction of an asian man. Hey at least Hughes decided to cast a “real” asian to play a stereotypical asian character. It is a very interesting article though. And also reminds me of the “21″ movie controversy,
which is supposed to based on an asian-american character but the movie features a caucasian actor. Man this would never happen the other way around. Link is below:
