Full nomination lists for this year’s Cybils Awards have been posted. Did you see the YA Fiction category?

The good news? I’ve read about 25% of them already. Yay!
The bad news? That still leaves, like, 100 books I haven’t read. Yikes!

So much for my theory that we’d have fewer nominees this year because of the shorter eligibility period, the shorter nomination period, and the fact that so many of this year’s buzz books fall into Fantasy and Science Fiction.

(And here are the Easy Reader, Middle Grade Fantasy and Science Fiction, YA Fantasy and Science Fiction, Fiction Picture Books, Elementary/Middle Grade Graphic Novels, YA Graphic Novels, Middle Grade NovelsNon-Fiction Picture Books, Middle Grade/YA Non-Fiction, and Poetry nominees.)

What a list! So many great ones, and so many I still have to read. I’d better get busy….😉

I am so glad that I purchased a lot of those for my library. Artichoke’s Heart by Suplee is a tremendous read.

We have (gulp) 161 in sci fi/fantasy. But lots are middle grade, and so are faster reads (she says hopefully). And there’s lots of variety, to keep it interesting….

Is YA as dark this year as it was last year?

Charlotte – So far, not as dark as last year. (Thank god.) Yeah, Living Dead Girl was nominated, and so was Impulse by Hopkins, but most of the others I’ve read, while serious haven’t been so heavy.
